Hycroft Lodge stands proud just off the main Vumba road, so has easy access and no driveway to negotiate. It is a double story building which houses the Hivu Nursery office, tuck shop, tea garden kitchen and the Friends of the Vumba office upstairs and then the lodge is on the south side of the building.

Entrance is through a private garden courtyard leading to the kitchen door. The 3 downstairs bedrooms have access from the outside veranda, being 1 x double bedroom with en-suite shower. The middle bedroom has twin beds and and door into the bathroom which is shared with the double bedroom next to the kitchen. The kitchen has a cosy fireplace with open plan beautiful dining room table. It is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, has a microwave, kettle, toaster, 4 plate electric stove and oven as well as a 4 plate gas stove and oven. There is a gas geyser as a no zesa back up plan which supplies hot water to the sink and 1 downstairs bathroom.

There is a small lounge with a view across the valley south east and up the stairs a small landing with easy chairs leading to 1 x double bedroom and 2 x smaller attic rooms with 3 single beds and a shower and toilet.

The courtyard garden offers privacy from the nursery and Adventure Park customers and a small braai and lights provide for an evening entertainment.

PRICING

  • The price is US$30 per person per night except High Season.
  • High Season from 15 December to 5 January – rate  US$35pppn.
  • Children under 12 are half price.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • The cottage keys must be collected from our Hivu Nursery offices before 5 pm, situated on the main road at the 27 Km peg on the main Vumba road
  • Keys are available at Hivu Offices upon completion of registration, payment of any outstanding fees and payment of deposit – min US$20 or 10% of booking.
  • Deposit returned upon satisfaction from our staff that there are no breakages, extra guests, and the cottage has been left in a tidy and respectable state.

Hunter's Moon

Hunter’s Moon is our signature self catering holiday cottage set 1km off the main tar road surrounded by forest with a splendid view south across the Leopard Rock Hotel golf course and game park onto the Burma Valley, Himalayan mountains with the Chimanimani mountains and the plains of Mozambique in the far distance.

Need a high clearance vehicle to navigate the 1km private driveway. Tall double storey building with a garage housing the zesa backup 4.5 KVA generator.

Park at the back of the house and enter through the modern kitchen into a passageway leading to a large lounge with fireplace, which oozes heat in those chilly winter evenings, to a large dining room with huge picturesque windows, the  double bedroom at the end and a single toilet with seperate bath and basin. The stairs leads up to 2 bedrooms, the master with a kingsize bed on the left and a large room with a double bed and 2 single beds combo and a shower with toilet / basin on the landing.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave & 4 plate gas stove and oven with a seperate scullery, electric fridge and a 20 lt container of drinking water, which is recommended as the house water comes from a pond. There is a gas geyser for back up hot water in the sink and downstairs bathroom/ shower.

A caretaker lives in the basement and is only there during the night & can help you with the operating of the generator or making the braai in a half drum.

There is a walk across the pond wall which will lead you onto the Adventure Park trail or one that leads you down the old Vumba road to the Leopard Rock Hotel fence.
