People, children and adults, were fascinated by the sight of walkers and so caring of our welfare.  We regularly attracted groups of children who walked with us practising their English:

To see in such great detail the array of scenery, habitation and vegetation made us once again value the wonderful country of Zimbabwe.

IMG_0877[4]he weather could not have been better – cold, frosty mornings and clear sky every day and we finished by seeing many wildebeest grazing at the base of Mt. Nyangani:

Then, climbing it with other walkers, cyclists and horse-riders to finish at the highest point in Zimbabwe on 12th August:

Altogether, an amazing experience and one which we hope to repeat next year, hopefully with many others!

The Mutare S.P.C.A. group did so much to make this annual marathon a success in every way and thanks to your support, this event raised a total of over $15 000: we are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity, which made this possible.  We loved HIVU and hope to be back for a proper holiday there in the very near future!

Once again, our grateful thanks and kindest regards,

Dave & Lyn McElvaine
